LAHORE:
Pakistan can defeat terrorism by investing in liberal arts education, said businessman Izzat Majeed on Wednesday.
Majeed was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the Beaconhouse National University’s Tarogil Campus.
The School has been named after Majeed’s mother, Seeta Majeed, to honour his generous financial support for the project.
Earlier, Majeed and Supreme Court Bar Association president Asma Jahangir unveiled the plaque to formally inaugurate the school.
BNU Foundation Chairperson Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, Vice Chancellor Sartaj Aziz, SLASS Dean Dr Hafiz A Pasha and Nayyar Ali Dada also attended the ceremony. The SLASS building is the second building commissioned at the Tarogil Campus of the university.
Nayyar Ali Dada, who has designed the SLASS building, said the structure was designed in eastern architectural tradition. The school is spread over almost 56,000 square feet. The centrally air-conditioned building has 18 classrooms, 10 computer labs and a Data and Communication Centre, several seminar and conference rooms and an auditorium.
