Pakistan Railways announces new refund policy
Pakistan Railways has introduced a new ticket refund policy, which will also apply to tickets purchased through the "Raabta" app, Express News reported.
According to the notification issued by Pakistan Railways, passengers who purchase tickets from railway's Point of Sale (POS) can receive a refund of up to 90% if canceled 48 hours before the train's departure.
If canceled 24-48 hours before departure, 80% of the amount will be refunded, and if canceled within 24 hours of departure, 70% will be refunded.
Passengers can also get a 50% refund within 2 hours of the train’s departure. If the train is delayed by 6 hours or more, a full refund will be provided.
Refunds for POS tickets will only be available at the respective counters where the tickets were purchased.
To claim the refund, passengers will need to submit the original ticket and a copy of their ID card, after which they will receive the cancellation slip and refund.
For online tickets, refunds can only be processed through the same online service used for payment.
The same refund policy applies to online tickets as well. No refund will be issued after the train’s departure, but if cancellation occurs less than 90 minutes before departure, a 50% refund will be given.
