Triple murder: political leaders express solidarity with victims' heirs

Protestors refuse to bury the dead till case registered against PPP MNA

HYDERABAD:

With Sanghar police continuing to elude lodging FIR against MNA Allauddin Junejo, who is associated with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), in the triple murder case, protest along with dead bodies entered a third day on Tuesday.

The PPP's MNAs Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman and Shazia Mari and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh's president Haleem Adil Shaikh also visited the protest camp on Tuesday to condole and express solidarity.

Three men were killed and more than 15 persons, including women and children, were injured in an alleged assault by armed men of the MNA in village Jani Junejo in the limits of Chautiari police station on Sunday. On his part, the MNA claims, the slain and injured persons were the ones who attacked his agricultural land and what happened was an act of defence.

The MNA Mari said the authorities should do whatever is humanly possible to give justice to the affected families. She underscored that the families have been pressing for the FIR and that they have sat at the protest camp for three days to see their demand materialize.

Meanwhile, Sheikh bewailed while talking to the media that the police have failed to register an FIR even on the third day of the incident. He accused the cops for trying to shield the influential figure implicated in the case of shooting dead Mushtaq Junejo, Ali Baksh Junejo and Abdul Rasool Junejo.

"Three bodies have been lying on the road for days with men, women and children, protesting outside the press club but the police refuse to register an FIR." He sought resignations of the IGP Sindh, DIG Shaheed Benazirabad and SSP Sanghar over their alleged reluctance.

The SSP Sanghar Ghulam Nabi Keerio on Tuesday visited the affected Junejo families at the protest camp. The protesters later blamed the SSP for bluntly refusing to name the MNA in the FIR. The protesters said they will spend weeks and even a month at the camp without burying their dead until the case is lodged.

Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman, who is also spiritual head of Sarwari Jamaat, told the media that his stance in the matter is no different from families of the slain persons. He emphasized that the demonstration should continue until the desired FIR is registered. "I have hope in Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and in no one else."
