The construction work at National Bank Stadium Karachi for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been completed 100% while finishing process is expected to be fully completed by January 31.
During a media briefing, Project Manager Bilal Chauhan said that the finishing work on the newly constructed building at the stadium is ongoing. The ground floor of the building has been completed, including the rooms for the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Anti-Doping units, as well as match officials' rooms.
Due to ongoing construction, the seating capacity at the National Stadium Karachi has temporarily been reduced from 32,000 to 28,000. However, an additional 2,000 people can still be accommodated in the pavilion.
He further said that first-floor dressing rooms are almost finished, while the 24 hospitality boxes on the third and fourth floors are near completion.
“Construction of the chairman’s boxes and admin block on the fourth floor is still in progress,” Bilal Chauhan said, adding that two modern elevators have been installed, and an external lift is expected to be added in the next few days.
The VVIP enclosures, named after legendary cricketers Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas, are also under construction, with work nearing completion. The lighting system for the stadium has also made significant progress, with the installation of six LED lights almost complete.
The LED lights are expected to be fully operational soon, with the digital screens, which arrived in Dubai, set to be installed in the coming days. A large 80 x 30-foot screen will be placed in front of the Wasim Akram enclosure, while a 20 x 30-foot screen will be placed in front of the Intikhab Alam enclosure.
Additionally, parking arrangements for 2,700 vehicles have been finalized, though ICC approval is still required for its official use.
Meanwhile, Sindh government has directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to provide special support for the stadium’s preparations, including ensuring smooth logistics for spectators.
