Carrie Underwood received widespread praise on social media for her powerful performance of "America the Beautiful" at Donald Trump's inauguration, despite facing a technical issue with her background music.
Following Trump’s 30-minute inaugural address, Underwood took the stage, standing before former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite the glitch, she flawlessly sang the song a capella, her eyes sparkling and her gestures reaching for the big notes.

Dressed in a simple, sleeveless white dress, Underwood’s understated look contrasted with her usual glamorous style, but her voice remained strong and clear, captivating the audience in the Capitol Rotunda. Many attendees, including Biden, sang along and mouthed “great job” as Underwood finished her performance. She later shook hands with both Biden and Trump, as well as new Vice President JD Vance.
Choir mic problems - don’t worry, @carrieunderwood doesn’t need backups!! Love how due to the sound issue Carrie LITERALLY unified everyone for song 🎶🎤🇺🇸 #Inauguration2025 #CarrieUnderwood pic.twitter.com/PDtnNQ4tJN

The 41-year-old country star, who will soon return to her “American Idol” judging role, expressed her gratitude for being asked to perform at the historic event. While her acceptance of the invitation stirred some controversy, much like Garth Brooks' performance at Biden’s inauguration, Underwood remained focused on uniting the country during a pivotal moment.
