The Pakistan Business Forum (PBF) has expressed strong support for the Green Pakistan Initiative, lauding the collaboration among the government, military, and relevant institutions to address food security.
During a visit to the GCI-LIMS Headquarters, PBF representatives met with DG Strategic Projects Major General Shahid Nazir and his team, who briefed them on the initiative's progress, including efforts to transform barren lands into cultivable areas. The PBF team was also briefed on the concept of green agri-malls and the operations of agriculture smart farms, designed to benefit farmers and promote the agricultural sector's development.
During the meeting, PBF Senior Vice President Amna Munawwar Awan noted that it is encouraging to see unprecedented political will to improve agriculture, supported by the military, with the ultimate aim of achieving food security. She emphasised the importance of ensuring seed security as a crucial first step toward this goal.
PBF Vice President, Ahmad Jawad, highlighted that utilising wastelands for agriculture under the Green Pakistan Initiative would create rural employment, promote sustainable agriculture, and attract investment. He also recommended revising land allocation policies to provide 200 acres of land to local investors in small clusters, which he believes would foster investment and boost agricultural productivity, particularly in Cholistan.
PBF wholeheartedly supports the principle that security and economic prosperity go hand in hand.
