Authorised manufacturers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bowzers have been directed to ensure compliance with the critical safety standards and no LPG bowzer is manufactured with a capacity exceeding 30 metric tons, exclusive of the 15% allowance.
The directives were given at a high-level meeting held on Saturday with the LPG bowzer and storage tank manufacturers at the regional office of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
The meeting was chaired by Ogra Member Oil Zainul Abideen and attended by senior directors and officers from the LPG and enforcement departments. The manufacturers were instructed to adhere strictly to the established safety regulations to mitigate risks and ensure the safe handling and transportation of LPG.
Ogra officials disclosed that the requisite data provided by the manufacturers was currently being examined and analysed to verify compliance with the manufacturing standards. In addition, the authority's enforcement teams are planning inspections of all manufacturing units to ensure adherence to the safety protocols.
Ogra reiterated its commitment to cracking down on unauthorised and illegal manufacturers, in collaboration with local administrations, to eliminate unsafe practices in the industry. Member Oil Zainul Abideen emphasised that regular monitoring and evaluation would be conducted to make sustained progress and maintain the highest safety standards across the LPG manufacturing sector.
