
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a plan to construct a medical college, a girls' hostel and an underpass in Okara.
Launching the CM Honhaar Scholarship a University of Okara, she said it is the responsibility of the youth to transform the political narrative of revenge, abuse and incitement into that of development
She also exhibited Core i7 laptops purchased for students.
She announced that the projects of the university would be completed under her supervision and the laptops would be distributed soon.
The CM said, "It is the foremost responsibility of the Punjab government to give laptops to children who cannot afford to buy them."
She said the government would also provide 100,000 e-bikes to students for college transportation.
"Parents should not worry about the education of their children, now the state will bear the expenses," she said.
She added, "Students should focus their 100 percent attention on building their careers."
The chief minister said, "I want to make students stakeholders to the serve the people and for uplift of the province. The passion of students is my motivation and hope."
She said, "Our country needs unity instead of hatred and chaos, peace and progress instead of anarchy."
No matter what happens, there should be respect for mothers, sisters and daughters, she asserted.
She added, "Do not believe blindly what you see on the social media, examine it with your critical evaluation and conscience. Despite giving historic and mega projects, we were labelled as thieves. We were called thieves but not a single penny of corruption was proved and the government was toppled on the pretext of Iqama only. They also accused me, all the powerful stakeholders were bent upon proving theft, but they miserably failed."
She said the first prime minister in the history had been caught red-handed while stealing and overthrown on getting bribe. The stock market rose 100 points high as soon as the verdict in the case was announced, she added.
"We faced 150 trials and bravely fought against false accusations. My cell in Adiala Jail was monitored by cameras. When we were in jail, we could not meet our family. We got food once in 24 hours," she said.
The CM said, "I was imprisoned in scorching heat but I did not urge others to burn down public properties."
