Idle govt vehicles may go under the hammer
The Sindh government has decided to auction idle official vehicles within a month and transition to electric vehicles (EVs) for government employees in the metropolitan city.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh Cabinet Subcommittee on Austerity, held at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Thursday. A 10-year record of government vehicles was presented during the meeting.
Sharjeel underlined the importance of completing the auction process within a month to avoid further resource wastage and meet the need for new vehicles. He spoke about the benefits of transitioning to EVs, including reduced fuel costs and environmental advantages.
"The government is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of public resources," he said.
