Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Care, Khawaja Imran Nazir, has expressed strong displeasure over the misuse of general duty assignments by doctors and subordinate staff under the District Health Authority.
During a visit to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Gujar Khan with Deputy Commissioner Waqar Hasan Cheema and District Health Authority CEO Dr Asif Arbab Niazi, the minister was informed that many health workers, instead of serving at their original postings in primary and rural health centres, had managed to secure general duties at preferred locations, including Adiala Jail, the High Court, Session Court Bar Dispensaries, and the District Health Authority office.
One such case involved Dr Aafia Haroon, who is the wife of District Health Officer Dr Hussain Shah Tirmizi, stationed at Daniyal Dispensary near her home instead of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Gujar Khan.
