A major fire broke out in a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, prompting a large-scale emergency response from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), US media reported.
The fire occurred at the intersection of Hope and Pico streets, where 12 fire companies and nearly 100 firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the flames.
The fire, which affected a two-story building, was initially reported as a significant blaze. Firefighters swiftly responded, managing to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures. According to the LAFD, the building was divided into two businesses by a wall, and the fire spread across both sections.
Hope Street, a major thoroughfare in the area, has been closed in both directions at Pico Street while authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the fire. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays in the area.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by fire officials. Firefighters’ swift action and coordination were instrumental in containing the fire and preventing further damage.
