KARACHI:

The 30th International Mushaira, organised by Sakinan-e-Shahr-e-Quaid, brought together celebrated poets from across the country and abroad at the Expo Centre on Sunday.

Presided over by the poet and critic Prof Sahar Ansari, the Mushaira was a beautiful blend of humour, touching reflections, and current affairs through poetry.

A large audience, including women and youth, attended the Mushaira, making it a huge success. Notable poets such as Iftikhar Arif, Abbas Tabish, Anwar Shoor, Dr Pirzada Qasim, and Zafar Sabir enthralled the gathering with their poetic renditions. From overseas, humorous poet Khalid Irfan, who traveled from the United States, received heartiest applause for his witty poetry.

The event also featured Indian poet Vijay Tiwari, the sole representative from India, whose beautiful recitations were warmly appreciated. His presence highlighted the power of poetry to transcend borders, as he emphasised that such literary gatherings could foster better relations between Pakistan and India.

0Prominent political figures, including Khalid Maqbool, Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haq, Khwaja Izhar-ul-Hasan, and Nehal Hashmi, also graced the occasion.

MQM-Pakistan's Farooq Sattar reflected on the popularity of the International Mushaira, which has grown immensely over the past three decades. Nehal Hashmi praised Mushairas as pillars of culture and civilisation.

Chief organiser Mehmood Ahmed Khan reaffirmed the commitment of Sakinan-e-Shahr-e-Quaid to continue hosting international Mushairas, celebrating the enduring beauty and relevance of poetry.
