The Punjab Environment and Climate Change Department (EP&CCD) is set to present a thought-provoking play, "Dharti Maa" (Mother Earth), from January 10 to January 16 at Alhamra Hall, Lahore.
A press briefing held at Adbi Baithak, Alhamra Arts Council, introduced the production, featuring renowned actors Samia Mumtaz and Wahab Shah in lead roles.
Samia Mumtaz will portray a mother, symbolizing the nurturing essence of Earth, while Wahab Shah emphasized the play's message of love and connection with the planet.
Dharti Maa sheds light on how human actions unknowingly harm the environment and inspires collective responsibility to protect it. The one hour and 40-minute play integrates specially composed music to deepen its emotional impact and features 130 artists showcasing their talents.
Combining reality, spirituality, literature, art, and folk traditions, the production offers a culturally rich experience, with folk art and music playing a central role.
Supported by the Punjab Government, the play focuses on the devastating effects of smog on Punjab and aims to educate and inspire audiences.
Senior producer-director Shakeel shared that dedicated days are allocated for students, stakeholders, departments, media representatives, and families.
The play, which starts in Lahore, will tour other parts of Punjab, spreading its vital message.
