Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, is reportedly donating $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, marking a notable move by a Big Tech executive to support the incoming administration.
According to a report from Axios, Cook, an Alabama native, believes in the tradition of presidential inaugurations and is contributing in a spirit of unity. However, Apple itself is not expected to make a donation.
Cook’s donation aligns with other tech executives and companies supporting Trump’s inauguration. Amazon, Meta, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman are each contributing $1 million to the fund. Additionally, Cook previously met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in December, joining other industry leaders such as Netflix's Ted Sarandos, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Sundar Pichai, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.
Cook also publicly congratulated Trump on his 2024 election victory, expressing enthusiasm for collaborating with the new administration to promote U.S. innovation. In addition to tech executives, other major donors to Trump’s inauguration include companies like Toyota, Ford, GM, Goldman Sachs, and cryptocurrency exchanges Kraken and Coinbase.
For the 2025 inauguration, individuals who donate at least $1 million will receive exclusive access to Trump and his inner circle, including invitations to multiple inaugural events and a private dinner with the president and his wife, Melania.
