ISLAMABAD:

A reduction of over Rs15 per unit in electricity prices is possible, and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has submitted a proposal in this regard to the government, according to sources.

They said balance of tariff adjustments can help reduce prices while revising capacity payments and surcharges and improving operational inefficiencies can also contribute to reducing electricity prices.

The current price of electricity is Rs45.06 per unit. Out of this, Rs17.01 per unit is allocated to capacity charges while taxes and surcharges amount to Rs15.28 per unit.
