MrBeast announces engagement to girlfriend Thea Booysen with festive Christmas Day proposal

YouTuber MrBeast proposed to girlfriend Thea Booysen on Christmas Day surrounded by family.

Famous YouTuber MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, revealed on Wednesday that he recently proposed to his girlfriend, Thea Booysen.  

“Ya boy did a thing,” Donaldson shared on his Instagram account, alongside a photo of him kneeling during the proposal.  

In a video posted on her own Instagram, Booysen displayed her diamond engagement ring while both she and Donaldson wore matching MrBeast-themed Christmas sweaters.  

The festive outfits were perfect for the moment, as Booysen told *People* magazine in an interview published on Wednesday that Donaldson proposed on Christmas Day with their families present.  

“My family flew out from South Africa for Christmas and we were going to do Christmas in our house so both families were here,” Booysen shared with the publication. “We were opening presents, and then for the very last present he asked me to close my eyes because it was a surprise.”  

Booysen said she “of course” said yes and expressed that she was “extremely excited.”  

The couple first crossed paths in 2022 in South Africa, where Booysen is originally from, thanks to a mutual friend.  

“When we were first introduced, it came through right away how brilliant Thea is,” Donaldson said. “I knew within the first few minutes of meeting that I wanted the chance to date her. Thankfully, she also felt a strong connection.”  

Later that year, they made their red carpet debut at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and confirmed their relationship on Instagram.  

Donaldson is a prominent YouTuber, businessman, and producer of his reality competition series “Beast Games.” Booysen is also a YouTube content creator, focusing on esports and gaming.
