New reports suggest that Insomniac Games is focusing heavily on Marvel’s Wolverine, with development potentially entering its final stages, while plans for a Venom-related project remain unresolved.

The claims originate from a social media post by user That REDACTED Guy and have not been officially confirmed.

According to the post, “The majority of Insomniac is heads down polishing and getting Wolverine ready,” indicating that the studio may be preparing the title for release.

The same source also reported activity involving the actor who served as the face model for Peter Parker, stating that he is “apparently doing mocap for 2 Insomniac projects.” No further details were provided regarding these projects.

Discussion around a potential Venom game has continued in recent weeks, with conflicting reports emerging about its development status. The latest claim suggests that Insomniac has not finalised how the project will be positioned.

“Internally, it’s still being decided whether Venom will be a cross-gen title like Miles Morales, or if it should be a PS6 title that will lead into Spider-Man 3, which will be a PS6 exclusive,” the post stated.

Earlier speculation had suggested that both a Venom-focused downloadable content expansion for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and a standalone game had been cancelled.

These claims were partly linked to comments from actor Nadji Jeter and references to the passing of actor Tony Todd. However, those reports have since been challenged.

Developer LordHuffnPuff commented, “Unless it was cancelled in the past two or so weeks… this runs contradictory to what was being discussed at GDC,” while journalist Jason Schreier responded, “This isn’t true.”

Insomniac Games and Sony have not issued official statements regarding the status of Marvel’s Wolverine or any Venom-related project.
