Tom Kane, the legendary voice actor best known for his work in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Powerpuff Girls, has died at the age of 64.

Kane’s death was confirmed by his talent agency, which revealed he passed away due to complications related to the stroke he suffered in late 2020. The medical emergency severely impacted his speech and movement, ultimately forcing him into retirement from voice acting.

Over the course of his decades-long career, Kane became one of animation’s most recognizable voices, known for portraying iconic characters including Yoda, Professor Utonium, HIM, Magneto, and Admiral Ackbar.

His work on The Clone Wars earned particular praise from fans for his uncanny ability to honor Frank Oz’s legendary Yoda performance while still bringing his own emotional depth to the character. Kane also narrated the opening sequences for nearly every episode of the acclaimed Star Wars series.

Beyond animation, Kane worked extensively in video games, television announcements, and film narration. He even served as announcer for the Academy Awards multiple times throughout his career.

Fans across social media have begun paying tribute to the actor, calling him “one of the greatest voices of a generation” and thanking him for helping shape some of the most beloved animated characters in pop culture history.

Kane is survived by his wife, Cindy, and their nine children.
