SC rejects Jattak's appeal against tribunal ruling

ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed Mir Ali Madad Jattak's appeal against the decision of election tribunal, which declared that the results of 15 polling stations in PB-45 Quetta were rigged.

According to a 25-page verdict written by Justice Aqeel Abbasi, the election tribunal enjoys the authority of civil court under the Election Act. Besides, the tribunal also has the authority to record statements in election dispute cases.

The court stressed that facts cannot be disregarded on technical grounds. It confirmed that the election dispute case was filed in election tribunal as per law.
