Authorities in Argentina have formally charged five individuals connected to the tragic death of singer Liam Payne. According to Infobae, a prominent Argentinian newspaper, the judge overseeing the case has charged the individuals with crimes ranging from negligent homicide to narcotics distribution.
Among the charged is Roger Nores, a friend of Payne’s who admitted to leaving him at the CasaSur Palermo hotel an hour before his fatal fall. Nores faces charges of negligent homicide and has been barred from leaving the country. It remains unclear if he is currently in custody.
Additionally, waiter Braian Paiz and hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra have been charged with supplying narcotics. Both reportedly admitted to providing Payne with cocaine. Two hotel managers, Gilda Martín and Esteban Grassi, are facing manslaughter charges for their alleged involvement.
The charges were anticipated earlier this month after a judge approved the prosecution’s case against Nores for abandonment.
Payne’s death occurred after a day of heavy drinking and drug use, shocking the music industry and prompting a major investigation in Argentina.
