A human smuggler and agent involved in illegally sending citizens to Europe via sea has been arrested. Team of FIA Faisalabad Zone conducted operations and caught the accused.
FIA team, on the directive of DG FIA Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, intensified actions against the elements involved in human trafficking and arrested an accused Ghulam Dastgir alias Kamran Libya involved in human trafficking.
Earlier, an agent named Abdul Rehman was also arrested, on whose information, human trafficker Ghulam Dastgir was arrested. The accused were involved in illegally sending citizens from Libya to Europe via sea routes. FIA team conducted raids in different areas of Faisalabad to track down and arrested the accused.
The accused are part of an international gang involved in human trafficking. The arrested accused defrauded seven citizens and extorting a total of Rs 27.3 million under the pretense of sending them to Europe.
The suspects were involved in sending citizens first to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visas, then to Libya, and then from there to Italy and Greece by boat. Important evidence was recovered from the mobile phones of the arrested suspects.
