Blackpink’s Jisoo is set to captivate audiences with her fearless performance in the highly anticipated zombie drama Newtopia. The series, set to premiere on Coupang Play on February 7 at 8 PM (KST), is based on the novel Influenza. It follows the gripping story of Yeongju, a "gomsin" (a term for women with boyfriends serving in the military), as she braves a zombie-infested Seoul to reunite with her boyfriend, Jaeyun, a soldier.
Released stills reveal intense moments, including Yeongju’s terror as zombies attack and tender moments reflecting her resolve.
“I was captivated by Yeongju’s charm from the start and felt driven to bring the character to life,” Jisoo shared, highlighting her passion for the role. Director Yoon Seong Hyun praised her dedication, stating, “Her humorous personality and unique charms were a 99% match with Yeongju’s character.”
A representative of the production commented, “Despite Seoul being overrun by zombies, Yeongju’s bold determination to reach her boyfriend shines through.”
With Jisoo at the helm and a gripping narrative, Newtopia promises to be a standout addition to the K-zombie genre. Fans of Jisoo and zombie dramas alike are eagerly counting down to the series' release.
