Denise Welch has contacted Brent Council after alleging that one of her sons was verbally insulted by a refuse collector during a dispute over uncollected household waste.

The television presenter, 67, shared her concerns on social media on March 30, stating that bins at her son’s property had not been emptied for three weeks despite attempts to resolve the issue through official channels. She claimed the situation escalated when her son approached a council worker to raise the problem.

In her now-deleted post, Welch wrote, "Hi @‌brent_council. You haven't emptied my son's bins in 3 weeks. Any attempts at due process has failed. He tried to talk to a collector who called him a c**t!! Can you let me know how we move forward!!!!"

Welch, who shares sons Matty Healy and Louis Healy with former husband Tim Healy, did not specify which of her children was involved in the incident. Her comments prompted widespread discussion online, with many users reacting to both the complaint and the language alleged to have been used.

Brent Council responded publicly to Welch’s post, stating: "Hi Denise, we are very sorry to hear about your son’s experience. If you could DM us the address, we will look into this as a matter of urgency."

The council covers several areas of west and north-west London, including Wembley, Kilburn and Willesden. It has not issued further public comment on the matter.

Welch later confirmed that the council had responded and acknowledged the volume of reactions her post received.
