In an apparent sign of changing times, a young woman filed a complaint against her parents for illegally detaining her at home to stop her from marrying the man of her choice.
Quaidabad police rescued 22-year-old Naz Fatima, who, according to her complaint, was being held captive by her own family. In the raid on the house in Landhi, police arrested Fatima's mother, father, grandmother, uncle, and a neighbour.
Quaidabad police station SHO Inspector Farasat said that the police received information through the victim's lawyer that her family had kept her in detention in her own house in Katchi Abadi Dawood Chali Landhi Quaidabad.
On this information, police raided the house and rescued the young woman. SHO Quaidabad said that the rescued woman, Naz Fatima, is a medical university staff nurse. She told the police that she wanted to marry a man of her choice, which her family got angry at and refused to get married.
As a result, she got angry with her family and went to her friend's house. However, her parents persuaded her and brought her back home. Her parents had locked her up after bringing her home.
Fatima alleged that her father tortured her and cut off half of her hair, making her head half bald so that she could not leave the house. Inspector Farasat said that in her statement, the woman alleged that her father, mother, uncle, grandmother, and neighbours were involved in keeping her in detention.
Fatima reported the incident to her lawyer, who contacted the police. The police acted on this information and rescued the girl who was being held captive at home by her parents.
