Renowned New Jersey R&B singer Kim Beacham Hanson, aged 57, was reportedly killed by her 32-year-old daughter, Breanna Beacham, on December 16, 2024.

Authorities in Willingboro Township discovered Hanson’s body at her home, where she had suffered multiple blunt injuries allegedly inflicted by her daughter. Police confirmed that her 17-year-old daughter was also present at the residence during the incident.

As per a December 18 report from the Daily Voice, an initial investigation revealed that Kim Beacham Hanson was beaten to death. An autopsy later confirmed she succumbed to multiple blunt injuries. NJ Advance Media’s report, also dated December 18, noted that Breanna Beacham admitted to attacking her mother with a hammer and curtain rod and stabbing her with a screwdriver.

A neighbor in Hanson’s building reportedly heard her cries for help and called 911, but assistance arrived too late to save her. The 32-year-old is now facing charges of first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful weapon possession.

Kim Beacham Hanson was a celebrated R&B artist in New Jersey, best known for her 1992 track Trouble, released under 111 East Records. Remixes of the song remain popular in dance clubs. According to her mother, Hanson had continued performing at clubs to raise funds for charitable causes.

In several statements to the New York Post on December 18, Lorraine Beacham, Kim Hanson’s mother, revealed that her granddaughter struggled with mental health issues. The 79-year-old shared that Breanna reportedly suffered from conditions such as schizophrenia and had previously threatened family members with violence.

“She [Breanna Beacham] wasn’t in her right mind. She had called my daughter [Kim Beacham Hanson] in the middle of the night one day last week talking really crazy. She was back and forth in [mental health] facilities," Lorraine said.

She further added: "She used to live with me and my sister, but she had to be removed by the police a couple of times because she’d start threatening out of the blue."
