The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has approved an increase in gas prices for the current fiscal year, Express News reported.
According to an announcement from OGRA, gas prices for Sui Northern Gas Company will rise by 8.71%, while Sui Southern Gas Company will face a price increase of 25.78%.
The statement outlined that the average price for gas supplied through the Sui Northern system will be set at Rs1,778.35 per MMBTU, while for Sui Southern, the price will be Rs1,762.51 per MMBTU.
OGRA further noted that the decision has been forwarded to the federal government, and the final approval will depend on the government's advice.
It is important to highlight that gas companies had originally requested a price hike of up to 208.67%. OGRA held a public hearing last month to discuss these requests.
