India defeat Pakistan by 9 wickets in Women's U-19 Asia Cup opener
India cruised to a comfortable 9-wicket victory over Pakistan in the opening Group A match of the ACC Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval on Sunday.
Pakistan, batting first, struggled to put up a strong total, managing only 67 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan was the top scorer for Pakistan, making 24 runs off 32 balls, which included four boundaries.
India's Sonam Yadav was the standout bowler, taking four wickets for just six runs in four overs, helping to restrict Pakistan to a low total.
In response, India chased down the target in just 7.5 overs, losing only one wicket.
Left-handed batter G Kamilini was the top scorer for India, making an unbeaten 44 runs off 29 balls, which included 4 fours and 3 sixes. Sanika Chalke added 19 runs to help India complete the chase comfortably.
Following their loss, Pakistan will face Nepal in their second match of the tournament on Monday, set to start at 2:00 PM local time.
India and Nepal are both in Group A, alongside Pakistan, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
The six-team tournament is being played in a T20 format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super-Four stage.
The Super-Four matches will take place on December 19 and 20, with the final scheduled for December 22.
