Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, has hit out at Imran Khan, accusing the former prime minister of calling him a thief, while Khan now finds himself "a lesson in disgrace" in Adiala Jail.
Speaking at a ceremony in Narowal, Iqbal recalled a message he posted on social media, stating, "Imran Khan called me a thief. I promised that if I had stolen from this country, may Allah destroy me. And if the accusation was false, may he be made an example of. Today, as Imran Khan sits in Adiala Jail, he is the lesson."
Iqbal went on to criticise Khan’s tenure, questioning his claims of development, saying, "I ask PTI supporters: Was Imran Khan your Mahatma? In four years, he was the master of both black and white," he said.
"Can anyone name a university, a hospital, or a motorway he built? No! He only opened free kitchens. The 29 kitchens opened across the country were funded not by the government but by the Saylani Foundation, an NGO from Karachi. The government simply stamped its approval."
In contrast, Iqbal highlighted the development in Narowal, saying, "Narowal has become a district that spreads knowledge. People come from other cities to study here. The hospital is top-notch, and a medical college has been established. Next year, we are also opening an agriculture college."
The remarks are a continuation of Iqbal’s ongoing criticism of Imran Khan and his political legacy.
