KARACHI:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Friday came out all guns blazing against PPP for not fulfilling its promises.

The PPP leadership had promised the moon when seeking votes for the Murtaza Wahab as mayor, but once he was on the seat, they forgot all their vows, said PML-N Parliamentary Leader in KMC Feroz Khan. He was addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Friday.

He said a no-confidence vote against mayor could be moved. However, they will take the decision after consulting top PML-N leadership.

Moreover, if the mayor does not accept their demands, PML-N City Council members will sit on the opposition benches.

It is worth noting that though Jamaat-e-Islami, was pursuing PML-N for support, it chose to back the PPP due to their alliance in the Centre. However, once the seat was won, PML-N was left out in the cold.

Feroz said that his party voted for PPP candidate for mayor. However, N-league was not being given any importance, while an agreement was reached between PPP and PML-N.

Feroz claimed that making Karachi a city of lights was the vision of Mian Nawaz Sharif. Aiming his guns at Murtaza Wahab, the PML-N leader said, "the performance of mayor is limited to photo sessions only."

Piling up the plethora of complaints shared by the millions of the city dwellers se said roads in Karachi are dilapidated, garbage piles are not being lifted. Government lands are being grabbed and encroached in Karachi. Welfare plots and schools are also being occupied for purposes ignoring real purpose.

Illegal occupation of public and private properties continues under official patronage, claimed Feroz. "An FIR was registered against Dildar Khokhar, Deputy Parliamentary Leader of PML-N in KMC when he raised voice against land grabbing. "

He demanded that the fake FIR registered against Dildar Khokhar be cancelled. KMC has become a hotbed of corruption, he asserted.

Dildar Khokhar said that when he raised his voice against the land grabbing in Baldia Town, an FIR was registered against him. He said that a person is involved in encroaching on government lands. The Mayor of Karachi was also informed in this regard but no action was taken.

JI demands funds for UCs

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar has highlighted that the Pakistan People Party government approved development schemes for 50 union councils, out of which 45 belong to the PPP and the rest to it's coalition partners.

Addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters on Friday, he demanded the government to approve development schemes and funds equally and evenly. in all union councils.

He condemned the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for attacking a JI's UC chairman.

Jinnah Town Chairman Kaleemul Haq Usmani was tortured by a gang of MQM workers at his office, he said, adding that those in the corridors of power need to realise that the mega city can't sustain culture of packed corpses and target killing any more.
