Mazang police acted on a distress call made to the emergency helpline 15, leading to the arrest of a suspect accused of raping an 18-year-old girl. SP Civil Lines Dr Abdul Hanan, upon receiving information about the incident, formed a special team under the supervision of SHO Mazang Rai Asif Jabbar to apprehend the perpetrator.
The police arrested the suspect, identified as Shahid. According to the initial investigation, Shahid had rented out a house to the victim, and her mother six years ago.
During this period, he allegedly manipulated the victim, subjected her to sexual assault, and continued to blackmail her for six years.
The situation escalated when Shahid reportedly raped the victim, prompting her mother to call 15 and report the crime. In a statement, the police spokesperson confirmed that Shahid had confessed to committing the heinous act.
A case has been registered against him at the Mazang police station, and the matter has been handed over to the investigation wing for further proceedings.
SP Civil Lines Dr Abdul Hanan commended SHO Rai Asif Jabbar and the police team for their response and action. "Police will not tolerate violence or sexual abuse against women and children under any circumstances," stated Dr Abdul Hanan.
