12-year-old saved from attempted rape
A 12-year-old girl was saved from a sexual assault in a small village of Badin on Wednesday.
As per details, the girl was working in the fields in Goth Haji Urs Soomro, near Deh Rait, when a man forcibly dragged her to a nearby sugarcane farm, tore off her clothes, and attempted to molest her.
However, the girl shouted for help, alerting peasants in nearby fields, who rushed to help her. The suspected assaulter, identified by witnesses as local landlord Haider Lanjar, fled the scene, leaving the girl behind.
The girl's father, Allah Dino Soomro, lodged a case against Lanjar with Model police station on attempted rape charges. SHO Anwar Leghari assured that the accused would be taken into custody soon.
Meanwhile, a woman who allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping into a wastewater pond near Matiari was rescued by locals.
According to reports, a woman in the Baqal Pota area near Matiari jumped into the pond in an apparent suicide attempt.
However, people nearby quickly pulled her out of the pond, finding her unconscious. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and transferred the woman, still unconscious, to the hospital. According to the police, the woman's identity has not yet been determined.
