Actor Dave Franco is trending on social media due to his striking resemblance to Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the recent shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Mangione, 26, was apprehended at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, carrying multiple fake IDs, a firearm with a suppressor, and a US passport, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
As Mangione’s photos surfaced online, social media users couldn’t help but note his uncanny likeness to Franco. Some even joked about casting Franco in an inevitable movie adaptation of the case.

Mangione, an academic achiever with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, also lists 295 books on his Goodreads profile. He was valedictorian of the Gilman School in Baltimore, adding an unexpected layer of intrigue to his profile as a suspect in such a high-profile crime.
Meanwhile, NYPD detectives are traveling to Pennsylvania to further question Mangione about the murder of Brian Thompson, who was fatally shot on a Manhattan sidewalk last week. While the investigation continues, Franco’s name remains part of the social media conversation, fueled by calls for his casting in an adaptation of the case.
