An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat in three separate cases related to the party’s protest at D Chowk.
The court approved bail against surety bonds of Rs 5,000 for each case, with the next hearing scheduled for December 16.
Marwat, a senior leader of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party, has been facing multiple charges related to the violent demonstrations and confrontations during PTI’s protest at Islamabad’s D Chowk earlier this year.
The charges include inciting violence and terrorism under anti-terrorism laws.
During the hearing, Marwat expressed frustration over what he described as judicial bias.
He claimed that Judge Abulhasnat Mohammad Zulqarnain had refused to hear his case due to his remarks about the National Assembly.
“The judge refused to hear the case because of my words about the National Assembly. What can we do? When the justice system breaks down, everything else follows,” Marwat said.
The court, while granting him bail, advised Marwat to avoid making statements that could be interpreted as attempts to influence the judiciary.
The case has been adjourned until December 16, when a full hearing is expected to take place.
