Warrants out as Bushra skips hearings

RAWALPINDI:

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand on Thursday issued balable arrest warrants against Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, for not appearing in court for 10 consecutive hearings of the Toshakhana 2 case.

Similarly, accountability court judge Nasir Javed Rana adjourned the hearing of the £190 million reference against the PTI founder and Bibi without any proceedings because of Bibi's absence.

Judge Arjumand heard the Toshakhana 2 case in a small courtroom inside the Adiala Jail. This was in contrast to a larger courtroom in which the GHQ attack case was heard on Wednesday.

During the hearing, the judge asked defence lawyer Usman Gul about the absence of Bushra Bibi, reminding him that at the previous hearing, Bibi's lawyer Salman Safdar had submitted a written assurance that she would appear on Thursday.

Gul said that Bibi did not appear in court due to unforeseen circumstances and commitments to other cases. He requested the court to grant her another opportunity.
