The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) and the Sindh Education Department on a petition challenging the recent appointments in BPS-17.
The petitioner, Arshad Laghari, prayed the court to declare the result of the recruitment test in question as null and void because of alleged irregularities in the process.
According to advocate Raja Jahanzeb Laghari, the counsel, 13 posts in BPS-17 were advertised on July 17, 2023.
The petitioner stated that he was among the candidates who took the test and was declared successful in the written test through a press release issued by the SPSC on January 5. However, he added, he was declared failure in the interview even though he had outperformed in viva.
Arshad Laghari blamed the commission for not issuing his marks sheet and not even apprising him about his total score in the tests. He contended that such aversion is a violation of SPSC's regulation as well as an order of the SHC in a 2016 suo moto case.
The lawyer pointed towards a candidate who was not only allowed to sit in the exam but was also declared successful in both the tests even though 'he did not possess' a recognisable postgraduate degree.
He cast doubt saying, the SPSC will destroy examination records after the passage of nine months of the tests after which all alleged irregularities will be given a clean chit.
Laghari pleaded the court to restrain the commission from destroying the answer sheets and other evidence which can prove their contention right. The next hearing was fixed for January 15, 2025.
