Bushra Bibi and her supporters are steering Imran Khan towards a path of destruction, alleges senator

Senator Faisal Vawda has raised the alarm over the growing influence of Bushra Bibi and her supporters, suggesting they are steering Imran Khan towards a path of destruction and claimed that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur would play a key role in ensuring Bushra Bibi's arrest.

Speaking on Express News’ Kal Tak programme on Tuesday, Vawda warned that Khan’s political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was fracturing, with smaller factions emerging within it. He claimed that Gandapur had taken Bushra Bibi to K-P and planned to have her arrested as part of a broader political strategy.

While detailing his concerns, he suggested that financial motives and internal betrayals were driving the power struggles within PTI. Referring to the 'goongi gang' (a term he used for corrupt elements within PTI), he accused them of looting public wealth for personal gain.

Vawda, however, emphasised his trust in Imran Khan’s former wife, Jemima Khan, and their children, asserting that they had always shown genuine loyalty to Khan and criticised those who questioned Jemima's motives, particularly pointing out that had she been driven by financial gain.

On the subject of Khan’s current situation, he criticised the handling of statements from PTI’s social media accounts, pointing out that when a positive statement was issued by Khan, his accounts were immediately used to attack the military establishment.

The senator also weighed in on the recent deaths of PTI supporters, stating that while the PIMS hospital report confirmed gunshot wounds as the cause of death, the specific circumstances surrounding the deaths were still unclear.

Analysing Pakistan’s current political situation, Vawda dismissed claims of a confrontation between the military and PTI and clarified that the real contest is between the government and the opposition party.

He further condemned the “dangerous” rhetoric being employed by political factions, particularly the use of ethnic identity to stir division.

Discussing PTI’s internal strife, Vawda revealed that the party was experiencing significant divisions at the leadership level, with multiple factions vying for control.

He mentioned that even among Khan’s closest allies, such as his wife Bushra Bibi and his sisters, the party was increasingly divided, with groups positioning themselves for power.

He continued to express concern over the safety of Imran Khan, asserting that his life was under threat from his wife and her associates, and called on the government to take immediate and robust action to ensure Khan’s protection.

The senator cautioned that the political battles within PTI would lead to further instability and harm, suggesting that Khan needed to regain control over his future and political direction.
