Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced its decision to boycott the All-Party Conference (APC) called by the governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on December 5, Express News reported.
In a statement, PTI’s spokesperson and central information secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said the party's decision to abstain from the APC was due to the government's "silent complicity" in the killing of innocent civilians, and its political support for those responsible for the violence.
The party accused the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of being a key advocate for the government's efforts to impose restrictions on PTI.
“PPP has actively supported the nefarious government agenda of banning PTI, particularly through the key role it played in the passage of the resolution in the Balochistan Assembly,” Akram stated.
He also criticised PPP for its ongoing crackdown on PTI workers in Sindh, calling it illegal and an act of harassment. At the same time, PTI claimed that PPP was attempting to project itself as a champion of democracy by holding meaningless political meetings.
The PTI spokesperson further asserted that PPP had no mandate in K-P, adding that the province’s representation was solely vested in PTI, which he said was handling the province’s issues effectively.
He also praised the provincial government’s efforts in addressing key regional concerns, including resolving complicated matters through political maturity and effective administrative steps, despite facing challenges from the federal government.
Akram concluded by stating that if the governor presents serious proposals or suggestions, the provincial government would consider them thoughtfully.
