Two female protesters sent to jail

An Islamabad-based Anti-Terrorism Court has ordered a 14-day judicial remand for two women arrested from D-Chowk during November 24 protest by workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and directed that 374 suspects be sent to Adiala Jail for an identification parade.

The court approved the police's request to send the suspects for identification parades.

The suspects were presented before Judge Tahir Abbas Supra of the Anti-Terrorism Court. Their counsel, Ansar Kiyani, appeared on their behalf. The suspects are linked to various cases registered at Kohsar, Karachi Company, Margalla, Secretariat, and Tarnol police stations.

The police requested the court to send the suspects to jail for the identification parade, while the defence counsel, Ansar Kiyani, opposed the request, stating that the suspects had been in police custody for six days. He also cited an Islamabad High Court order regarding the identification parade.

The court, however, ordered that the two women be sent on judicial remand to jail, while the 374 suspects were sent to Adiala Jail for a 14-day identification parade.

Meanwhile, the court approved a four-day physical remand of 19 suspects registered at the Secretariat Police Station and handed them over to the police.
