ISLAMABAD:

An Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has granted a four-day physical remand for 19 suspects arrested during the recent protest in central Islamabad.

The suspects were presented before Judge Tahir Abbas Supra late at night, sparking criticism over the handling of the case.

The suspects were brought to court at 10.30pm, with police requesting a ten-day remand.

However, the court limited the remand to four days, noting in its written order that no legal representation was present for the suspects at the late hour.

As a result, the detainees were compelled to present their arguments.

The court also issued a show-cause notice to the investigating officer for the delay in producing the suspects, stating that such practices hinder the judicial process.

The arrests were made in connection with the unrest at D-Chowk, which has become a focal point for political protests in the federal capital.

The court emphasised the importance of timely legal proceedings to ensure justice for all parties involved.

Further investigations are underway, and the suspects are set to appear in court again following the completion of their remand.
