Bilawal slams K-P govt for 'ignoring' Kurram

PPP chief says PTI-led govt incapable of protecting people

KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday urged the K-P government to protect the lives and property of the people, expressing deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Kurram district.

According to a statement issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman lamented the fact that while Kurram burned in unrest, the K-P government was nowhere to be seen. He said that in the past three days 80 people had been killed in Kurram, as people are not safe even in their homes.

"The K-P government's role as a silent spectator during the unrest is akin to becoming an ally of terrorists," the statement quoted Bilawal as saying. "Maintaining law and order is the primary responsibility of the provincial government," he added.

Bilawal said the PTI-led provincial government had proven to be incapable of fulfilling its responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens. "We condemn the criminal negligence of the PTI government in Kurram district," he said.

"We cannot see Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa burn in the fire of unrest like this. The Pakistan Peoples Party will play its role to ensure law and order in the entire province, including Kurram," he said. He also sought a report from K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on the Kurram situation, the statement added.
