Policeman among two people martyred in separate bomb blasts in Bajaur
Two people, including a police officer, were martyred in separate bomb explosions Mamond tehsil of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province's Bajaur district.
The first explosion took place in the area of Airab, within the jurisdiction of Loi Mamond Police Station, in which a man named Malik Asghar was killed. Police officials confirmed the incident, Express News reported.
They added that the second blast occurred in the area of Meena Khor, also within the jurisdiction of Loi Mamond Police Station, where police constable Ihsanullah was killed, , Express News reported.
After both incidents, the police have collected evidence and blocked off the area, initiating an investigation.
No one has claimed responsibility for the bombings so far.
Previously twelve soldiers were martyred in a suicide blast near the Mali Khel check post in Bannu district, the army's media wing said in a statement on Wednesday.
The security forces also killed six terrorists by effectively thwarting their attempt to enter the joint check post, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) added.
"In ensuing fire exchange, six khwarij are sent to hell. The attempt to enter the post was effectively thwarted by own troops, which forced the khwarij to ram an explosive laden vehicle into the perimeter wall of the post," the ISPR said.
"The suicide blast led to the collapse of a portion of the perimeter wall and damaged the adjoining infrastructure, resulting in Shahadat of 12 brave sons of soil, including 10 soldiers of the security forces and two soldiers of Frontier Constabulary," the ISPR said.
7 terrorists killed in Balochistan, K-P IBOs
The security forces killed four terrorists in three separate engagements in Balochistan and eliminated the terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the military said on Friday.
The three engagements with terrorists occurred in the Awaran, Dera Bugti and Kech districts, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the military. It said that weapons were also recovered from the possession of the dead terrorists.
"An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in Awaran District on reported presence of terrorists. During the conduct of operation, after intense fire exchange, two terrorists were successfully neutralized; both high value targets identified as Niaz alias Ghuman and Zareef alias Shah Jahan," it said.
