The security forces killed four terrorists in three separate engagements in Balochistan and eliminated thee terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the military said on Friday.
The three engagements with terrorists occurred in the Awaran, Dera Bugti and Kech districts, accord-ing to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the military. It said that weapons were also recovered from the possession of the dead terrorists.
"An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in Awaran District on reported presence of ter-rorists. During the conduct of operation, after intense fire exchange, two terrorists were successfully neutralized; both high value targets identified as Niaz alias Ghuman and Zareef alias Shah Jahan," it said.
In another operation in Dera Bugti district, the ISPR said, "own troops effectively neutralised one ter-rorist [and] in yet another engagement in Kech district, own troops, while conducting an intelligence based operation, killed another terrorist".
The ISPR said that the dead terrorists "were involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as the innocent civilians". It added that the security forces were determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.
In a separate statement, the ISPR said, security forces killed three terrorists in an IBO in Bannu district of K-P. "In the early hours of Friday, Security Forces conducted an intelligence based operation in Ban-nu District on reported presence of khwarij," the ISPR said.
"During conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged khwarij location, as a result of which, three khwarij were sent to hell while two khwarij got injured. Weapons, ammunition and ex-plosives were also recovered from killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terror-ist activities against security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians," it added.
"Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate any other Khwarji found in the area, as security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country," the media wing of the military said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their separate statements, paid tribute to the security forces for their successful intelligence-based anti-terrorist operations in Awaran, Dera Bugti and Kech districts of Balochistan.
"We will not allow the terrorists to disrupt the peace and development process in Balochistan. We will not let them succeed in their evil designs," the president said. He reiterated the nation's resolve for continuous anti-terror operations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz, meanwhile, reiterating his government's undeterred resolve to wipe out ter-rorism. He said: "The entire nation feels proud of its security forces. We will continue to thwart the nefarious designs of the enemies of humanity."
