Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the a authorities concerned to speed up the completion of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme and pay the second loan instalment to the beneficiaries as soon as possible.
Chairing a meeting, she said the payment of the first installment of the loan to 927 applicants under the housing scheme in the province had been completed.
She was informed that over 800 houses under the scheme were heading for completion.
The chief minister was informed that data of 50,000 applicants had been forwarded for verification. Verification and 38,000 of them had been verified.
Of them, 20,900 applicants have submitted documents and 8,424 have completed the process.
"The number of registered users on 'Apni Chhat Apna Ghar' portal has exceeded 600,000, whereas more than 325,000 applications have been received via portal to construct houses under the scheme," the officials said.
They said the target of building 47,000 houses by June and 100,000 by December next year would be completed.
The chief minister approved the provision of furniture and other items as gifts to the owners of the first five houses completed under the scheme.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also gave approval in principle for launching a three-Marla plot scheme in Punjab.
The scheme will be started by giving 666 plots in Chishtian.
