Govt dispatches aid to Syria amid ongoing conflict

Aid is part of Pakistan's broader efforts, including 12 consignments to Palestine and six to Lebanon

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has sent its 20th consignment of aid to Syria, where ongoing Israeli military actions have intensified. 

The aid, dispatched from Karachi on Tuesday, includes approximately 17 tons of supplies, such as rice buckets, powdered milk, tin food, family packs, sleeping bags, medical kits, and a generator. The shipment was flown via a chartered flight from Karachi to Damascus.

This consignment is part of Pakistan’s broader humanitarian support efforts, which have previously included 12 aid consignments to Palestine and six to Lebanon. 

The ongoing violence in the region has led to significant casualties, with over 43,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza and over 3,500 in Lebanon as part of Israel's military campaign.

Pakistan has consistently called for a ceasefire in Gaza and has raised the issue on various international platforms, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). 

The country, which does not recognise Israel and has no diplomatic relations with it, continues to advocate for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.
