Karachi's Commissioner, Syed Hassan Naqvi, has imposed Section 144 across the city from November 18 to 24, ahead of the 2024 International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS).
According to a notification issued by the commissioner, the temporary ban has been enforced to ensure security and smooth operations during the event.
The restrictions will prohibit all forms of gatherings, protests, and rallies, as well as the assembly of more than five individuals.
The move is aimed at facilitating both local and foreign participants attending the defence exhibition. The notification emphasised that the temporary measure is designed to prevent disruptions and ensure the safety of attendees.
A day earlier, Sindh Education Department has announced the closure of educational institutions in specific areas of Karachi due to the ongoing Defence Exhibition, IDEAS.
Schools and colleges located near Shahrah-e-Faisal will remain closed for four days, from November 19 to 22. Additionally, educational institutions along Habib Ibrahim Road will also observe a closure during the same period.
The Sindh Education Department issued a notification confirming the closure of schools and colleges in these areas.
