Alan Jones, the prominent Australian radio broadcaster and former political speechwriter, has been charged with 24 sexual and indecent assault offenses. The 83-year-old was arrested at his Sydney apartment on November 18, according to reports. The allegations involve seven men and a 17-year-old boy, with incidents reportedly occurring between 2001 and 2019.

The charges include 11 counts of aggravated indecent assault. New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb described the investigation as "complex and thorough" and anticipated additional victims might come forward.

Jones, who has denied previous allegations of abuse, was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18. His lawyer, Chris Murphy, stated, "Alan Jones will assert his innocence appropriately in the courtroom."

A well-known figure on Sydney’s 2GB radio station, Jones has faced controversies throughout his career, including defamation lawsuits and inflammatory remarks. He retired in 2020, citing health concerns.

The case is expected to draw significant public attention, given Jones' influence and notoriety in Australian media and politics.
