Sophie Turner, known for her Emmy-nominated role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is reportedly in talks to star as Lara Croft in Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series. The high-profile adaptation, led by Emmy-winning Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is based on the iconic video game franchise. A representative for Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment on the negotiations.
Last month, Turner was among the actresses testing for the coveted role, previously brought to life on the big screen by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. The series has been described as an “epic” and “globe-trotting” adventure by Amazon MGM head Jennifer Salke, who announced the project earlier this year.
Waller-Bridge, who serves as writer and executive producer, has expressed her passion for the franchise, saying, “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure.” The series is executive produced by Waller-Bridge through Wells Street Productions, along with Legendary Television, Crystal Dynamics, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Turner’s upcoming projects include the British crime drama Joan and the Prime Video series Haven. If finalized, her role as Lara Croft would mark another milestone in her flourishing career.
