Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey has officially retired its iconic roller coaster, Kingda Ka, along with several other rides, including Green Lantern, The Twister, Parachutes, and The Skyway.

The closures make way for new record-breaking attractions, part of the park’s multi-year expansion plan, which aims to elevate thrill-seeking experiences and family entertainment.

Park President Brian Bacica announced that in 2025, The Flash: Vertical Velocity will debut as North America’s first super boomerang coaster, followed by a “multi-record-breaking launch coaster” slated for 2026.

"With our dedication to creating unforgettable experiences, the park’s multi-year expansion plans will bring major investments, including record-breaking thrill rides, revitalized family experiences, elevated dining, expanded events, and continuous enhancements across the property," Bacica shared.

Since its debut in 2005, Kingda Ka held the title as the tallest and fastest coaster, propelling riders 45 stories high and reaching 128 miles per hour in seconds. Despite frequent breakdowns, it remained a fan favorite.

Bacica acknowledged the emotional farewell to these beloved attractions, assuring that updates on the new rides will be available next summer. Construction on the new coasters will soon commence, marking a significant transformation for Six Flags Great Adventure.
