Police under scrutiny after 'suicide' in custody

HARIPUR:

The family of Sajid Shah, who reportedly committed suicide in the Khanpur police station lock-up, was shown CCTV footage of the incident.

According to DPO Farhan Khan, the video shows Shah using a noose fashioned from his vest and drawstring, which he tied to a wooden fixture in the washroom late : at night.

The post-mortem report found no signs of physical violence on Shah, indicating no external injuries while in custody. An inquiry committee, led by SP Investigation, has been formed to further investigate the incident.

DPO Haripur said that strict action will be taken against any officers or personnel found negligent based on the committee's findings.
