The beloved cast of New Girl—Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Damon Wayans Jr.—recently reunited for People magazine’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive issue, marking their first on-camera reunion since the series ended in 2018. Gathered in Los Angeles for the shoot, the cast shared laughter and reminisced about the show’s impact. Morris reflected on their enduring chemistry, stating, “We were around each other for many hours a day… when you get around each other, you instantly get back into silliness,” according to People.
The popular sitcom, which aired from 2011 to 2018, continues to attract a new fanbase each year through streaming platforms. Greenfield credits New Girl’s lasting appeal to its accessibility, particularly during the pandemic, saying, “Every year there’s new college kids who are… spending some weird weekend where they’re like, ‘I watched all 130 episodes, and now my life has changed.’” This sentiment was echoed by Johnson, who noted how the show’s cast naturally falls back into their quirky dynamics when they reunite.
Asked about the possibility of a reunion series, the cast expressed interest but acknowledged that the decision largely rests with the show’s creator, Liz Meriwether. “None of it is up to us… it’s her decision,” Greenfield explained. Wayans praised Meriwether’s comedic vision, adding, “I think Liz is very funny… if she did bring it back, it would be great.”
The cast also took a humorous look at what their characters might be doing today, with Johnson imagining his character Nick running a car dealership and Greenfield suggesting Schmidt would be “power-washing everything.”
